Why are these the best Ramadan desserts?
Middle Eastern desserts are known for their rich texture, aromatic ingredients and delicious unique flavors. These things combine to provide the perfect sweet bite for the end of your iftar.
I chose the most popular Middle Eastern desserts from my website, loved by my readers and my family alike! These are the ones that’ll feature in frequent rotation on my iftar table, and I hope, soon your table too!
1. Kunafa
This is a family gathering dessert, it feeds a crowd, and has such a wow factor with that stretchy gooey cheese and crunchy topping. My version is super easy, because it’s made with accessible Mozzarella cheese!
2. Luqaimat- Middle Eastern Doughnuts
Luqaimat are delicious Middle Eastern style doughnut balls. They are crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious drizzled with a homemade sugar syrup. The batter comes together so easily!
3. Lebanese Rice Pudding
Rice pudding or riz bi haleeb is creamy, comforting and so simple to make. Rice pudding with rose water is a very common Middle Eastern dessert, and this is my foolproof method on how to make it with only 15 minutes of active prep time and a handful of ingredients.
4. Um Ali
This Um Ali recipe gives you a very traditional Egyptian dessert, an extra special bread pudding. It’s delicious- creamy, sweet and comforting, with an assortment of nuts for those so inclined. It’s incredibly easy to put together!
5. Namoura
Also known as basboosa, this is a classic recipe that comes together with very little effort and is soaked with a fragrant sugar syrup, a wonderfully decadent dessert that’s very hard to resist but very easy to make, no mixer required.
6. Tamriyeh
Tamriyeh are sort of like MIddle Eastern beignet, semolina pudding stuffed dough parcels that are fried and dusted with powdered sugar and pistachios.
7. Znoud El Sit
Znoud el sit are cream filled phyllo dough fried until golden and crispy and dipped in orange blossom and rose water scented sugar syrup. A decadent indulgence that’s loved in the Middle East, easier than you might think to make!
8. Aish El Saraya
Aish el saraya is a beautiful Middle Eastern dessert consisting of fragrant scented sweetened breadcrumbs, topped with a cream referred to as ashta (Sort of like an Arabic clotted cream) and garnished with pistachios.
9. Nescafe Cake
A no bake, easy coffee biscuit cake that’s creamy and has a rich coffee flavor. Nescafe cake is like the cheaters version of tiramisu with no eggs, no mascarpone, and lots of flavor!
10. Lazy Cake
The ultimate in ease, lazy cake is a delicious chocolate biscuit cake made with only four ingredients and with 5 minutes of effort. It’s cold and chocolatey and crunchy and delicious, absolutely addictive!
11. Date Nut Bars
These date nut bars are unbelievably easy, and a perfect mix of texture and flavor. Not too sweet, these make the perfect bite for dessert. Have gotten rave reviews from anyone whose tried them!
12. Orange Blossom Cake
A delicious moist and fluffy orange blossom cake made with plenty of orange flavor and a hint of orange blossom water, this is one comforting and easy cake!
13. Berries and Cream Sara Lee Cake
This is the perfect simple trifle, with layers of fresh berries, an easy and delicious cream, and vanilla Sara Lee cake. It’s one of our favorites, and comes together in a snap.
14. Biscoff Icebox Cake
This biscoff icebox cake is a 4-ingredient biscoff cake, so easy to make and so much fun to eat! No bake, super simple, and perfect for preparing in advance. A biscoff layer cake is a big winner!
15. Apple Baklava
This apple baklava is layer on layer of deliciousness. It’s so easy to make, with an apple walnut filling and crispy layers of golden phyllo dough.
16. Non Alcoholic Tiramisu
This easy, non alcoholic tiramisu is also an eggless tiramisu which means it comes together so quickly and easily, with a handful of ingredients. You get the creamiest most delicious tiramisu with barely any effort and I promise you’ll make this again and again!
17. Mango Cheesecake
This no bake mango cheesecake is such a dreamy dessert. It has a thick and creamy mango puree swirled filling which is eggless and comes together so quickly. 18. Pistachio No Bake Cheesecake
Pistachio cheesecake bars are creamy and rich with a buttery crumb crust and chocolate topping. Really simple to make and a complete crowdpleaser!
19. Chocolate Cake with Condensed Milk
Easiest recipe ever, this starts with a moist chocolate cake with condensed milk caramel sauce poured all over, topped with toffee bits and whipped cream. Chocolate cake with condensed milk is phenomenal! Absolute crowd pleaser.
20. Banoffee Cups
A classic banoffee but in trifle form, with these adorable little banoffee cups with layers of whipped cream, homemade toffee, sliced bananas and buttery biscuit crumbs.
21. Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Cake
This is an easy cinnamon swirl bundt cake with sour cream, a simple yellow cake mix that’s been elevated to make this delicious coffee cake. There is a cinnamon swirl layered in the middle that adds a lovely sweet flavor to the cake. You just need a handful of ingredients, and about 5 minutes of hands on time and you have a crowd pleasing and delightfully moist cake.
22. Frozen Oreo Dessert
The most addictive frozen Oreo dessert, with an Oreo crust, vanilla ice cream, a salted butter fudge sauce and crushed Oreos on top. The simplest ingredients get transformed into something magical-you won’t believe how delicious this Oreo ice cream fudge cake is!
23. Cardamom Snickerdoodles
These cardamom snickerdoodles (or chai snickerdoodle cookies) are soft and pillowy, with that signature snickerdoodle texture and a delicious cardamom, cinnamon and sugar coating. They come together in minutes and are one of the best cookies I’ve ever made. You’ll have a lot of fun making these and even more fun devouring them!
