This roundup of 10 classic soups for Ramadan will make sure you have everything you need to start off Ramadan with simple, delicious, and family friendly soup recipes!
Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims, where they abstain from eating from dawn to dusk. When Muslims break their fast, they typically do it with dates, water, then a soup. That’s why we have to get creative, to fill in 30 days of fasting! I’ve tried and tested the below soup recipes until I got the perfect version, that you can make while fasting and completely trust the measurements.

Why are soups in Ramadan so important?
During Ramadan, soups play a significant role in the Iftar spread, offering warmth, nourishment, and some hydration.
They are a good way to start off our digestion after a full day of not eating, helping to restore energy levels.
The spices and flavors of many Middle Eastern soups are warming and comforting, but we also go for less traditional soup options!
1. Middle Eastern Lentil Soup
The most classic soup there probably is to break iftar with, this is my favorite lentil soup ever. It’s so comforting, creamy and perfectly spiced, it’s a guaranteed hit.

2. Adas bi Hamod (Lebanese lemony lentil and swiss chard soup)
Another very commonly enjoyed lentil soup, this one is a little different, with lots of swiss chard, potato cubes, lentils and a bright lemony flavor. So healthy!

3. Tomato Vermicelli Soup (Kafta Soup)
This brings me right back to my childhood. A light tomato broth, mini meatballs, and plenty of vermicelli noodles for slurping. Such a yummy soup!

4. Vegetable Noodle Soup
Another vermicelli soup, but a vegetable version. Hands down my kids favorite soup ever. Packed with good for you veggies, conveniently using a frozen mix of peas, carrots and corn!

5. Freekeh Soup
Freekeh is cracked wheat, and it has so many health benefits. It has a really distinctive nutty and delicious flavor, a must try!

6. Oat Soup
A classic Saudi soup, made with quick cooking oats- couldn’t be simpler. And it’s delicious!

7. Vegan Harira Soup
I love this soup so much! It’s a Moroccan inspired soup, a complete classic Ramadan soup, but my version is without the meat, and you won’t miss it because it’s absolutely packed with flavor and comfort.

8. Instant Pot Panera Broccoli Cheddar Soup
This is a crazy good soup. Full of cheesy goodness and broccoli, can’t get a better pairing!
