What are Golden Oreo truffles?
An offshoot of the super famous classic Oreo truffles, but made with their yellow sibling, Golden Oreos instead. They are a little sweeter, and they literally taste like cake batter when you add the sprinkles. That’s why I call these birthday cake truffles too!
Oreo truffles are a mix of Oreo crumbs and softened cream cheese, that are dipped in melted chocolate and left to set until hardened. The combination of just a handful of ingredients gives you the most luxurious melty truffles, that taste like they took a lot more time and effort than they actually did.
Why should I make birthday cake truffles?

They are so simple to make! Just a few ingredients, a few minutes, and you have these yummy little bites.
Cake truffles are such a hit at any party. We all know kids will love these, but I promise you adults will be obsessed with them too.
They last a long time in the fridge, about 2 weeks in a tightly covered container. They can also be frozen so they are great for making ahead!
These remind me of the milk bar cake truffles, but those require a lot more effort. These are no bake birthday cake truffles, making the process waaaaay simpler.
Ingredients in Golden Oreo truffles:

Golden Oreos: The yellow version of regular Oreos. Or make these with regular Oreos!
Cream Cheese: I prefer using Philadelphia cream cheese, but if you have another preference go right ahead! It should be softened at room temperature before use.
Rainbow Sprinkles: These are the fun factor that give a little crunch and give these cake truffles that funfetti truffle twist! It’s what really makes them taste like cake batter truffles instead of just regular old Oreo truffles.
White Chocolate: I’ve had success using any variety of white chocolate. White chocolate buttons, white chocolate chunks, white chocolate bars. The type that’ll melt the best will be the white chocolate candy melts but don’t feel like you need to go out of your way to get them- we add an ingredient to keep the melted white chocolate smooth.
Vegetable Oil: This is what keeps our chocolate smooth after melting! It’ll help stop it from seizing up and becoming grainy. You could also use coconut oil which will have the same effect.
How to make the easiest truffles:

- Break the Oreos down into fine crumbs. Place all the Oreo cookings for the filling, creme center and all, into the bowl of a food processor. Process until fine crumbs form. You can alternately place them in a large freezer bag and hit them with a rolling pin (roll over them too) until broken up into fine crumbs.
- Add the softened cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs, and pulse until combined and smooth.
- Transfer this mixture into a bowl, and fold in the sprinkles until well distributed.
- Scoop out little 1 tablespoon size balls of this mixture, and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. You can use your hands, a spoon, or a small cookie scoop.
- Freeze these Oreo balls for 15 minutes or until set and hard, this will make it much easier to coat them.
- While the Oreo truffles are in the freezer, melt the white chocolate in a double boiler until smooth. Stir constantly to avoid burning. Off the stove, mix the vegetable oil into the white chocolate until smooth.
- Remove the Oreo truffles from the freezer, and dip in the melted chocolate using a spoon or fork until completely coated, then remove and let the excess chocolate drip off. Return to the parchment paper lined baking sheet, and immediately sprinkle some Oreo crumbs and sprinkles on top.
- Allow the chocolates to set on the baking sheet before enjoying. Store any leftovers in the fridge!
Storing leftover birthday cake truffles:

Since these are made with cream cheese, they need to be stored in the fridge. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to two weeks. If you want to do part of this recipe as a make ahead, the Oreo truffle mixture can be made a day or two in advance, then formed into balls and dipped before serving.
The truffles can also be frozen for up to 3 months in an airtight container. Either thaw overnight in the fridge, or they should thaw quickly at room temperature on a warm day.
Recipe FAQs:

Yes! Just microwave on low speed, stirring every 30 seconds or so, until white chocolate starts to melt. You can stop microwaving once chocolate is melting, just keep stirring until until white chocolate has completely melted. Be careful and keep checking!
Make sure it doesn’t come into any contact with water (the water in the double boiler touching the base of the bowl, or any wet utensils being used to stir the melted chocolate.) Adding a little vegetable oil to the melted chocolate also helps it remain smooth.
Although I do like the very fine crumbs I get with a food processor, you can crush the Oreos by placing them in a large freezer bag and hitting them with a rolling pin (roll over them too) until broken up into fine crumbs.
